About Us

When I first started out in the year 2000, I solely made candles. With the business name Candle Creations. Over the years the business has weathered the ups and downs of sales and had to adjust the product line to suit.
Whilst I still make candles, and love doing so, I started expanding out into other handmade items. I self taught myself to crochet, and began crocheting the tops of hand towels, my own ones had become tatty and I needed new ones and was unable to find the old fashioned crocheted top ones. Along with a few other product lines that I did not make myself i.e. soap.
A few years ago I meet my wonderful husband, and soon found out that he loved doing woodwork. So he started making a few candle holders for me to compliment my candles. I then tried to convince him I couldn’t sew, as he was forever asking me to mend clothes for him. Eventually I relented and said yes to a very simple sewing machine, just so I could mend his clothes. But I ended up making a few cushion covers, and then never heard the end of the “I thought you couldn’t sew” astonishment, LOL. My secret was out!
With the business now in a direction of mostly handmade items, I made the decision to start making my own soap, with a bit of help from the husband, so it was time after 20 years to look at a name change to better reflect the direction the business had now gone in.
Billee’s Handcrafted Gifts was a long thought for name (my mum takes credit for the Billee part LOL). Billee is a mix of the husband and wife team that the business has now become, Bill and Leonie.
